Spring car boot sale in the village of George Sand, between the chateau and the Romanesque church
The Nohant-Vic car boot sale is held every spring in this emblematic village of Berry, famous for the estate of George Sand. Private exhibitors offer their second-hand items in an exceptional heritage setting, between the Nohant chateau and the Vic Romanesque church with its remarkable frescoes.
The Nohant-Vic car boot sale takes place every spring in one of the most famous villages in Berry. Nohant-Vic (36400), located a few kilometers from La Châtre, is inseparable from the memory of George Sand: the novelist lived most of her life there in her Nohant estate, now state property and open to the public. Exhibitors set up their stalls in the village center to offer clothes, books, toys, crockery, trinkets, small furniture and various objects in a family and literary atmosphere.
The Nohant estate, a listed historic monument, includes the chateau where George Sand hosted Chopin, Delacroix, Liszt, Balzac and Flaubert. The park, the family cemetery, and the puppet theater form a unique ensemble. A short walk away, the Romanesque church of Vic preserves a cycle of 12th-century wall frescoes, among the most remarkable in France, depicting scenes from the Old and New Testaments. This dual heritage—literary and Romanesque—makes Nohant-Vic a major tourist destination in central France.
The Nohant-Vic car boot sale offers the ideal opportunity to combine treasure hunting and cultural discovery. After browsing the stalls, visitors can visit the estate of George Sand or admire the frescoes of Vic. Entry to the car boot sale is free.
The Nohant-Vic car boot sale returns on May 31, 2026, in the heart of George Sand's village. Free entry.
