Weekly flea market of professional dealers in front of the Halles Centrales in Rennes
Les Puces du Jeudi are held every Thursday morning in front of the Halles Centrales, on the boulevard de la Liberté in Rennes. About thirty professional flea market dealers offer antiques, vintage furniture, old postcards, pocket watches, stamps, figurines, glassware, and curiosities. This weekly event is a classic of Rennes' antique hunting scene, in a remarkable setting at the foot of the Odorico mosaics that adorn the facade of the market halls.
Every Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the forecourt of the Halles Centrales on the boulevard de la Liberté hosts about thirty professional dealers. You can find old postcards, pocket watches, stamps, figurines, furniture from the 1950s-1970s, photographic equipment, glassware, crystal, and objects from house clearances. Les Puces du Jeudi attract both seasoned collectors and curious strollers, in a neighborhood market atmosphere.
The Halles Centrales of Rennes, also known as the Halles Martenot, are an architectural gem from the 1920s. Their facade adorned with mosaics by Isidore Odorico, a renowned Rennes-based mosaic artist of Italian origin, makes it one of the most photographed buildings in the city. Hunting for treasures at the foot of these listed market halls combines the pleasure of discovering old objects with the contemplation of exceptional Art Deco heritage.
The exhibitors at Les Puces du Jeudi are professional dealers and antique dealers, members of the Brocanteurs de l'Ouest association. Each has their specialty: one offers Scandinavian vintage furniture, another military curiosities, a third old books. The quality and diversity of the merchandise make this market one of the essential flea market events in Brittany.
