The Grande Braderie, a Rennes institution for over 50 years
For over half a century, the Grande Braderie de Rennes has transformed the historic center into a gigantic bargain space. From 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., around 500 merchants, traders, and artisans take over the pedestrian streets, from rue d'Antrain to boulevard de la Liberté, and from place Saint-Germain to rue de la Monnaie. You can find branded clothing, furniture, decor, books, tableware, toys, and a thousand finds at bargain prices. The event attracts over 450,000 visitors each year, making this the busiest day of the year in the center of Rennes.
A city center celebration
The Grande Braderie is not limited to the merchants' stalls. The shops in the city center open their doors with exceptional discounts, the terraces of cafes and restaurants spill onto the sidewalks, and musical entertainment punctuates the day. The STAR transport network is free for the occasion, facilitating access to the heart of the metropolis. The cobbled streets of old Rennes, lined with half-timbered houses, offer a unique setting for this popular day of treasure hunting and strolling.

The 55th Grande Braderie de Rennes will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 9 AM to 7 PM in the city center. Considered the second largest "braderie" in France, it brings together more than 150 merchants from Carré Rennais and numerous street vendors across about sixty streets, from Boulevard de la Liberté to Rue d'Antrain and from Rue Saint-Yves to Place Saint-Germain. More than 400,000 visitors are expected. Free admission, free STAR transport.
The big commercial street market in Rennes city center
Organized annually on the last Wednesday of June by the Carré Rennais association, the Grande Braderie traditionally marks the kick-off of the summer sales in Brittany. For this 55th edition, on June 24, 2026, about sixty streets in the city center will transform into a huge space for bargain hunting and good deals, with merchants unpacking their unsold items directly onto the sidewalks.

- Sports Village — Place de la Mairie: sports equipment and gear at clearance prices.
- Thrift Store Area — Rue d'Antrain: vintage and second-hand clothing.

Practical Information
The 2026 edition is completely free for visitors. The STAR network (metro, bus) is free all day to facilitate access. Peripheral park-and-ride facilities offer shuttles to the city center. City center shops and restaurants remain open in parallel with the braderie.
