The hamlet tradition beneath Mont Ventoux
The La Tuilière Vide Tout is the spring tradition of the hamlet of La Tuilière, in the hills of Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt. For a day, residents open cellars, barns and attics for a friendly large-scale clear-out. Set 6 km from the main village in a preserved rural setting, it is one of Pays d'Apt's most authentic events.
La Tuilière's Vide Tout is one of those rare events that keeps full rural authenticity. La Tuilière is a hamlet of Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt about 6 km from the main village, with its own hall and a strong identity upheld by its inhabitants. "Vide Tout" means emptying literally everything: from barn to attic, cellar and garage.
Unlike urban flea markets, La Tuilière stands out with its authentic rural atmosphere. Exhibitors are mostly hamlet residents and nearby farms, offering wide bric-a-brac: old farm tools, rustic furniture, Provençal kitchenware, crockery, household linen, clothing, toys, books, small furniture, workwear, light farm equipment. Neighbour chat, improvised aperitifs and the cicadas in the background evoke a Giono-like scene.
La Tuilière offers splendid views of the wooded hills of Saint-Saturnin plateau, with vistas of the Monts de Vaucluse and, on clear days, Mont Ventoux. The hamlet keeps its stone houses, wash houses, bread ovens and rural chapel. Wandering between stalls while discovering this small heritage is a unique experience.
The Vide Tout's reputation draws knowledgeable hunters from Apt, Cavaillon and beyond. Plateau farms sometimes yield true treasures: ironwork tools, rural everyday objects, canes, baskets, utilitarian pottery, rush-seated chairs. All at very affordable prices in the Provençal bargain tradition.
La Tuilière Vide Tout returns on Sunday 26 April 2026 from 7am to 4pm in the Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt hamlet. A rural plateau tradition, this human-scale event gathers residents emptying cellars and attics: old tools, rustic furniture, farm bric-a-brac. Typically Provençal atmosphere, Ventoux views, refreshments served by villagers.
