Car boot sale in the streets of Hindisheim village, organised by the Union Sportive de Hindisheim
The Hindisheim Car Boot Sale offers the opportunity to wander through the picturesque streets of this Bas-Rhin village while browsing among dozens of exhibitors. Organised by the Union Sportive de Hindisheim, it transforms the village for a day into a vast open-air market. Local residents bring out tables and rails in front of their houses, joined by exhibitors from neighbouring communes, to offer a motley assortment of items: clothing for all the family, toys, board games, books, CDs, vinyls, small furniture, crockery, glassware, decorative items, lighting, household linen, tools, gardening items and countless curiosities. It is the perfect opportunity to clear out your cupboards while delighting passing bargain hunters.
Hindisheim is a commune in the Bas-Rhin of around 1,700 inhabitants, located in the Sélestat-Erstein arrondissement, about fifteen kilometres south of Strasbourg. The village sits at the junction between the Ried plain and the first foothills of the Vosges, in a green environment of fields, orchards and meadows. Hindisheim benefits from a privileged geographical location, close to the A35 motorway and the urban centres of Erstein and Strasbourg, giving it a dynamic residential character while retaining its village identity. The Union Sportive, a pillar of local community life, organises sports activities and popular events throughout the year, including this spring car boot sale that delights residents and visitors alike.
In Alsace, the tradition of car boot sales and flea markets is deeply rooted in popular culture. From the smallest village to the regional capital, hundreds of events are organised each spring and summer, mobilising sports, cultural and charitable associations. The Hindisheim car boot sale perpetuates this tradition with authenticity: no professional stands here, only private individuals clearing out their attics, cellars and cupboards for the pleasure of passing things on and sharing. The atmosphere is warm, prices affordable, discoveries sometimes surprising. A true moment of Alsatian village life, far from conventional commercial circuits.
