The Ham Giants Braderie Flea Market is much more than a simple braderie. Organised by the T'Chout Jaques association in collaboration with the town of Ham, it is one of the major annual events. The event combines several highlights: the commercial braderie, the flea market, musical animations and especially the emblematic parade of local giants with their fanfare.

The Ham giants: T'Chout Jaques and companions

The particularity of this event lies in its Picardy folkloric dimension. The Ham giants — foremost T'Chout Jaques, representing the town's "hardines" (market gardeners) — appear during the day, accompanied by a fanfare. T'Chout Jaques was born in 1929 at the initiative of the Veterans Association, and the current association was created in 2005.

On the commercial front, Ham shopkeepers participate actively by setting up their clearance stands. Meanwhile, the flea market proper gathers private and semi-professional exhibitors.
