The annual Grosrouvre flea market, a small Yvelines village on the edge of the Rambouillet forest
Grosrouvre is a small commune of about 900 inhabitants nestled in western Yvelines, at the edge of the Rambouillet forest. This wooded, preserved, and peaceful setting hosts the village flea market every early June, organized on the central square with the support of the town hall and local associations.
Setting up stalls on the central square turns this normally quiet place into a true little treasure market. Private exhibitors — mostly village residents and neighbors — and a few occasional professionals offer a fine variety of objects.
The Grosrouvre flea market is designed as a complete day to spend with family or friends. Organizing associations usually offer on-site catering with drinks, sandwiches, pastries, and sometimes heartier dishes.
Grosrouvre draws part of its charm from its location at the entrance of the Rambouillet state forest, one of the most beautiful forest massifs in the Paris region. Bargain hunters can easily extend their day with a forest walk, a visit to the nearby Sauvage wildlife park at Émancé, or an excursion to Montfort-l'Amaury, a picturesque medieval town nearby.
Beyond its interest to bargain hunters, the Grosrouvre flea market is an important moment for the village's community and associative life.
