Four times a year, Sommières lives to the rhythm of its Great Flea Market and Car Boot Sale. These exceptional events, organized in April, July, August, and October, transform the Esplanade Frédéric Mistral into a huge open-air market that can accommodate up to 400 exhibitors. Flea market professionals and individuals mingle in a lively and friendly atmosphere, under the shade of the square.

The meeting place for treasure hunters in Languedoc

These major events attract hundreds of buyers from all over the Gard, Languedoc, and neighboring Provence. A remarkable diversity of objects can be found: antique furniture, tableware, linens, tools, books, vinyl records, toys, trinkets, vintage clothing, and collector's items. The mix of professional and amateur sellers gives the event an authentic flavor where a good deal is never far away.

A unique medieval setting in Europe

Sommières is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in the South of France. Its ancient Roman bridge, partially inhabited since the Middle Ages—a unique feature in Europe—its royal castle overlooking the town, and its stepped streets form an exceptional setting for these flea market days. The Esplanade des Arènes and the Allée Frédéric Mistral, shaded by plane trees, naturally host these large gatherings.

Practical and no reservation needed
