The Back-to-School Car Boot Sale in Saint-Renan

Every early September, Saint-Renan hosts its Back-to-School Car Boot Sale at the Espace Culturel. This popular event has established itself in a few editions as one of the highlights of the associative life of the commune in northern Finistère. In 2025, during its 9th edition, no less than 2,300 visitors passed through the doors of the Espace Culturel to browse, discover, and find bargains.

Exhibitors set up their stalls from 7 a.m., while the public is welcomed from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.. Entry is set at €1.50 per adult, with free access for children under 15. A refreshment stand and light catering—sandwiches, crepes (wheat and buckwheat), desserts, drinks—are available on site throughout the day.

A growing event

The Back-to-School Car Boot Sale has successfully retained a large and regular customer base. Its location in a covered space guarantees optimal comfort for both visitors and exhibitors, regardless of the whims of the Breton autumn weather. Individuals and professionals offer a varied selection: clothing, books, vinyl records, toys, appliances, decorative items, furniture, tableware, and curiosities of all kinds.

The 10th edition, scheduled for September 2026, marks a symbolic milestone for this thriving event, organized by a dedicated volunteer team serving the local life of Saint-Renan.

Saint-Renan, a lively town at the start of the school year

Saint-Renan is a commune of nearly 8,000 inhabitants, the former capital of the county of Léon, located 10 kilometers west of Brest. Known for its Saturday market, one of the busiest in the Brest region, the town knows how to host major popular events in a pleasant heritage setting. The Espace Culturel, versatile and well-served, is an ideal venue for this annual back-to-school event.

In 2025 and 2026: first Sunday of September

The Back-to-School Car Boot Sale was held on Sunday, September 7, 2025 (9th edition) and is scheduled for Sunday, September 6, 2026 (10th edition) at the Espace Culturel de Saint-Renan. Exhibitors from 7 a.m., public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., entry €1.50 (free for under 15s).
