Each year on the first weekend of August, the town of Bazeilles (08140) hosts one of the largest summer flea markets in the Ardennes. The Grande Brocante d'Été, organized by the association Bazeilles Animation, brings together around 300 exhibitors in Place de la République for a day of treasure hunting that extends into a festive evening.

With its 300 exhibitors — both individuals and professionals — the Grande Brocante de Bazeilles offers an exceptional range of antiques, old furniture, tableware, trinkets, books, vinyl records, clothing, and all sorts of objects. Bazeilles' Place de la République is transformed for the occasion into a huge treasure market, attracting bargain hunters from all over the Ardennes department and neighboring regions.

Original and festive entertainment

Beyond the flea market, the event stands out with its original entertainment: a dream poaching contest, a revisited quiche championship, tastings, and various surprises organized by Bazeilles Animation. An evening concert and fireworks conclude the day in style, turning this flea market into a true summer festival.

Bazeilles and the memory of 1870

Bazeilles is a commune in the community of communes Pays de Sedan, famous for the Battle of Bazeilles on September 1, 1870, during the Franco-Prussian War, immortalized by Alphonse de Neuville's painting "The House of the Last Cartridge."
