Grand car boot sale flea market from the rugby club at Parc de Capèle, Lot valley in Aveyron
Every year in June, the Parc de Capèle transforms into a huge open-air flea market for the Grand Vide-Grenier Brocante du CCAC. Organized by the Compound Club Athlétique Capdenacois, the town's emblematic rugby club, this event attracts around 200 exhibitors and hundreds of treasure hunters from all over northern Aveyron and neighboring Lot. The park's tree-lined alleys offer a pleasant and shaded setting for browsing stalls and finding bargains.
The Compound Club Athlétique Capdenacois, commonly known as CCAC, is one of the pillars of associative and sporting life in Capdenac-Gare. Founded in the first half of the 20th century, the club distinguished itself by becoming Champion de France de 4e série in 1933, then Champion du Limousin in 1958 and 1989, and winner of the Coupe des Pyrénées 1re série in 2018. Beyond the field, the CCAC enlivens the town through festive and solidarity events, including this large car boot sale flea market, which is one of the highlights of its annual calendar. The proceeds from the event contribute to the club's operations and the training of young rugby players.
The Parc de Capèle, located at 27 avenue Albert Thomas, is one of the largest green spaces in Capdenac-Gare. Its vast area can accommodate the approximately 200 stands in excellent conditions, with enough space between the aisles for comfortable circulation. The adjacent parking lot facilitates access for both visitors and exhibitors, who benefit from free parking and a complimentary coffee and fouace upon arrival. The fouace, a brioche bread flavored with orange blossom, is an emblematic specialty of Aveyron and Rouergue, a typically Aveyronnais gesture of welcome.
With around 200 exhibitors, the CCAC car boot sale flea market offers a considerable selection of second-hand items:
The diversity of the stalls, mixing private individuals and enthusiasts, guarantees varied discoveries and accessible prices, in the friendly spirit that characterizes rural car boot sales in Aveyron.
The CCAC provides on-site refreshment and catering services that fully contribute to the warm atmosphere of the day. Visitors can eat between finds, while exhibitors enjoy the coffee and fouace offered by the club. This festive and gourmet dimension makes the CCAC car boot sale much more than just a flea market: it is a true popular festival where the inhabitants of the Lot valley gather.
Capdenac-Gare is a unique commune in Aveyron, in the Occitanie region, born from the establishment of a railway station in 1858 by the Compagnie du chemin de fer de Paris à Orléans. It became an independent commune in 1891 and was long the most important railway hub in the southern Massif Central. Opposite the town, on the right bank of the Lot, Capdenac-le-Haut stands its Gallo-Roman oppidum on a spectacular rocky spur, offering a breathtaking panorama of the Lot meander. A walk to the Gallo-Roman fountains of Capdenac-le-Haut, classified as a Historic Monument, perfectly complements a day of treasure hunting at Parc de Capèle.
