Every Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm, the boulevard des Arceaux hosts the Forum des Collectionneurs, a specialized market set up under the majestic arches of the Saint-Clément aqueduct. Specialized collectors and dealers offer old postcards, stamps, coins, pins, figurines, old books, comic strips, vinyl records, and small collectible items. This market is a benchmark for collectors in the region, who come to complete their collections or discover new passions.
The Saint-Clément aqueduct, also called the Arceaux, is an 18th-century hydraulic structure built to supply the city of Montpellier with water from the Lez spring in Saint-Clément-de-Rivière. Its two superimposed rows of arches, inspired by the Pont du Gard, cross the Arceaux district for nearly 800 meters. The boulevard along the aqueduct, lined with century-old plane trees, offers an exceptional setting for this market. Stalls are lined up under the arches, benefiting from welcome natural shade in the summer.
The Forum des Collectionneurs attracts a knowledgeable, loyal, and regular audience. The atmosphere is calm and studious, very different from the hustle and bustle of large flea markets. Discussions between collectors, impromptu appraisals, and exchanges are the highlights of these mornings. The market is held near the Arceaux food market, one of Montpellier's most beautiful open-air markets, allowing you to combine treasure hunting with grocery shopping in one outing.
