Bargain hunting in one of France's Most Beautiful Villages
On Sunday 1 June 2026, the Venasque Festivals Committee hosts its annual flea market in the village centre, classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France. Perched on its rocky promontory at the foot of Mont Ventoux, Venasque offers an exceptional historic setting: Merovingian baptistery, ramparts and medieval lanes.
Few flea markets in France can boast such a spectacular setting as Venasque's. Classified among The Most Beautiful Villages of France, this village perched on a rocky spur at the foot of Mont Ventoux hosts its June communal flea market every year, organized by the Festivals Committee. For 2026, the date is Sunday 1 June.
Venasque is one of the region's oldest villages: its name gave its own to the Comtat Venaissin, a former papal state. The 6th-century Merovingian baptistery is one of France's oldest Christian buildings.
Stalls set up in the lanes and small squares of the historic centre. Traditional bric-a-brac sits alongside objects tied to the village's rural and artisanal history: antique pottery, wooden objects and textiles.
The village is famous for its cherries, emblematic fruit of the Comtat Venaissin. In June, the cherry season is in full swing.
