One of the most beautiful flea markets in the region, in the park of the medieval castle
The Flea Market of Coursan-en-Othe has been organized every second Sunday of August by the village Festival Committee since 1997. With around 350 exhibitors and 15,000 to 20,000 visitors, this rural event is hailed by the Guide du Routard as one of the most beautiful flea markets in the entire Grand Est region. Stalls spread through the streets and the park of the former medieval castle of Coursan-en-Othe, from 7 am to 7 pm. Sixty to seventy volunteers are mobilized, with regional products and catering completing this exceptional event in the Pays d'Othe.
Who would imagine that a village of a few hundred inhabitants in the Pays d'Othe, perched on the heights of the Aube forest, hosts one of the most beautiful flea markets in the entire Grand Est region every summer? This is indeed the reality of Coursan-en-Othe, whose annual flea market, organized since 1997 by the Festival Committee, has gained a national reputation over the years, to the point of being distinguished and recommended by the Guide du Routard.
The secret to this success lies first and foremost in its location. The approximately 350 exhibitors set up in the village streets and in the park of the former medieval castle of Coursan-en-Othe, a historical and natural setting of rare beauty. Visitors stroll among the stalls in the tree-lined park alleys, under the canopy of the medieval site, for a unique treasure hunt experience that combines the discovery of old items with immersion in the rural heritage of the Aube region.
The event takes place every second Sunday of August, from 7 am to 7 pm. With 15,000 to 20,000 visitors expected each year, the Coursan-en-Othe flea market generates considerable traffic for this small village in the Pays d'Othe, requiring meticulous logistical organization.
The success of the Coursan-en-Othe flea market is no accident. The Festival Committee dedicates more than six months to its preparation and mobilizes 60 to 70 volunteers each year to ensure smooth reception, exhibitor placement, visitor flow management, and the provision of catering and regional products worthy of the event.
This exemplary organization is regularly praised by exhibitors and visitors, who return year after year. Exhibitor registrations are open on the dedicated website, with the option to download promotional posters.
Coursan-en-Othe is nestled in the Pays d'Othe, a vast forest massif straddling the departments of Aube and Yonne. This preserved territory, far from major infrastructure, offers a complete change of scenery for visitors from Troyes, Sens, or even Paris. The winding roads through the forest, the orchards, and the perched villages form an authentic rural landscape, ideal for a Sunday excursion in mid-August.
The flea market is held every second Sunday of August, from 7 am to 7 pm, in the streets and the park of the castle of Coursan-en-Othe. Entry is free. Regional products, cold catering, and drinks available on site. Plan an early start to find parking.
