The Vide-Grenier d'Ervy-le-Châtel is distinguished by holding two annual editions, on August 15th (Assumption Day) and May 8th (Victory in Europe Day), two public holidays that encourage participation from both exhibitors and visitors. Ervy-le-Châtel is a charming medieval town in the Aube, featuring a 16th-century market hall and half-timbered houses, offering an exceptional picturesque setting for this type of event. Bargain hunters appreciate strolling through the old town as much as the finds made among the stalls.
Ervy-le-Châtel is one of the heritage jewels of the Aube department. This medieval town, located in the canton of Bar-sur-Seine, boasts a 16th-century market hall, half-timbered houses, and a partially preserved fortified enclosure that give it a unique character. It is in this remarkable historical setting that two car boot sales are held each year, on the occasion of August 15th (Assumption Day) and May 8th (Victory in Europe Day).
Holding these events on public holidays is a popular strategy that allows a larger number of participants to attend. Private exhibitors can set up without professional constraints, and visitors benefit from a free day to hunt for bargains at their own pace.
The market hall of Ervy-le-Châtel, built in the 16th century, is one of the most remarkable monuments in the Aube. With its solid wooden beams and architecture typical of Champagne rural market halls, it serves as a central landmark during the car boot sale. Stalls spread around the market hall and in the alleys of the old town, creating a pleasant route for visitors.
The medieval setting gives the event a special atmosphere that attracts not only flea market enthusiasts but also tourists visiting this town classified among the heritage sites of the Grand Est region. The combination of beautiful built heritage and a lively car boot sale makes it an ideal destination for an outing with family or friends.
Private exhibitors from the area offer a wide variety of items: antique furniture, tableware, linens, books, old postcards, toys, tools, clothing, and decorative objects. Lovers of champagneana and objects related to the rural history of the Aube region will surely find interesting pieces. Prices are negotiable, and the spirit of the car boot sale encourages good deals.
