A garage sale in the heart of the Saverne area

The FC Waldolwisheim Footballers' Garage Sale perfectly illustrates the central role played by amateur football clubs in the life of Alsatian villages. Organised by volunteers from the Waldolwisheim Football Club, this annual event takes over the multipurpose hall and its surroundings each year, making it possible to take advantage of a covered space in case of fickle weather. Exhibitors, mainly private but also a few professionals, set up their stands in the morning and offer a wide variety of items: furniture, crockery, trinkets, books, records, clothing, second-hand toys, tools, childcare items, decorative objects and all kinds of curiosities. The atmosphere is resolutely family and friendly, characteristic of the association events in small Alsatian villages. The refreshment stand and food service, run by players and club volunteers, offer drinks, grilled food, sausages and local specialities throughout the day. The proceeds from this event contribute to financing the teams, equipment, travel and youth training of the club.

Waldolwisheim, a peaceful village in the Saverne area

Waldolwisheim is a small commune of around 600 inhabitants located in the canton of Saverne, in the heart of the Zorn area, between the Alsatian plain and the first foothills of the Vosges massif. This peaceful village, characteristic of rural Alsace, retains its authentic charm with its half-timbered houses, parish church, quiet streets and active community life despite its modest size. The commune is part of the Saverne Country Community of Communes, a territory that brings together around fifty villages around the town of Saverne, a sub-prefecture known for its Rohan castle, Marne-Rhine canal and rose garden.
