Major traditional Bastille Day flea market organized by the Municipal Sports Office in the center of Chatenois, on the Alsace Wine Route
The Chatenois Flea Market is one of the major July 14 events on the Alsace Wine Route. Organized by the Municipal Sports Office (OMS), it takes over the Allee des Bains and the village center for a day of bargain-hunting from 6am to 6pm. Hundreds of vendors offer furniture, tableware, books, toys, vinyls and curiosities in an exceptional setting between vineyards and medieval ramparts. Refreshments and Alsatian snacks are served all day by the OMS for the benefit of local sports clubs.
The Chatenois Flea Market celebrates its 29th edition in 2026. Organized every July 14 by the Chatenois Municipal Sports Office (OMS), it has become a flagship event in the Bas-Rhin bargain-hunting calendar. Set up in the Allee des Bains and the center of this emblematic wine village, it attracts thousands of visitors each year from all over Alsace, Lorraine and neighboring Germany who come to enjoy bargain-hunting, Bastille Day festivities and the discovery of one of the most beautiful villages of the Alsatian vineyard simultaneously.
From 6am to 6pm, hundreds of vendors set up in the Allee des Bains and the adjacent streets of the historic center of Chatenois. Antique furniture, faience tableware, lighting, clocks, books, comics, vinyls, toys, militaria, vintage clothing, postcards and curiosities: the diversity of items offered delights experienced collectors and Sunday bargain-hunters. The Bastille Day context and the immediate proximity of the Alsatian vineyard give the event a unique festive and tourist character.
The Chatenois Municipal Sports Office federates the village's many sports clubs. The proceeds from the flea market fund local sports activities, from football to tennis, gymnastics, cycling and handball. OMS volunteers welcome vendors, manage the event and run the refreshment stand which offers coffee, pretzels, tartes flambees, grilled food, fries, cold drinks and local beers all day. A charitable event that unites Chatenois residents around sport and conviviality.
Chatenois is a commune of about 4,000 inhabitants located in the Bas-Rhin, a few kilometers north of Selestat, on the prestigious Alsace Wine Route. Famous for its remarkable medieval heritage (Witches Tower, Witches Gate, rampart vestiges, Saint-George church with its Romanesque bell tower), the village is surrounded by a vineyard classified as grand cru. Its half-timbered houses, fountains and flower-decked alleys make it a highly prized tourist stop. The Alsace Wine Route that passes through it brings an oenological dimension to the visit, with many wine estates open for tasting.
29th Chatenois OMS Flea Market on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 from 6am to 6pm in the Allee des Bains and the village center. Free entry. Alsatian food on site. Proceeds benefit local sports clubs.
