Historically, this flea market was held in the perched medieval village of Léotoing (43410), around St. John's Day (last weekend of June), from 8 am to 6 pm. It was organized by the Maison Templière de Fareyroles, a local cultural and heritage association.

The St. John's Day Flea Markets in Léotoing

ℹ️ 2026 Edition unconfirmed — see the warning box above. The following content describes the event as it was held during its last documented editions.

Léotoing is one of the most remarkable villages in Haute-Loire. Perched on a rocky spur at an altitude of 700 meters in the Senouire valley, this medieval town is dominated by its Château des Mercoeur, an emblematic fortress of the Middle Ages that has watched over the plain for centuries. It was in this historically rich setting that the Léotoing flea markets were held each year, around St. John's Day on the last weekend of June.

A Market in an Exceptional Medieval Setting

The village of Léotoing, with its cobbled streets, stone houses, and panoramic views of the Auvergne countryside, offered an ideal setting for a treasure hunt market. From 8 am to 6 pm, private and professional exhibitors set up in the village streets to offer their items: antique furniture, crockery, books, clothes, tools, and decorative objects coexisted in a relaxed and historical atmosphere.

The day combined the pleasure of browsing and heritage discovery. Visitors could take advantage of their visit to Léotoing to explore the Château des Mercoeur, an imposing medieval fortress whose towers rise above the village, and admire the exceptional view stretching over the valley.

The Maison Templière de Fareyroles

The flea markets were organized by the Maison Templière de Fareyroles, a local cultural and heritage association dedicated to promoting the Templar and medieval heritage of the region. This organization enlivens village life and has made the St. John's Day flea market one of its recurring events.

A Village to Discover

Léotoing belongs to the canton of Brioude-Alagnon and is one of the rural communes of Haute-Loire that carefully perpetuate their historical heritage. The Château des Mercoeur, property of the eponymous counts in the Middle Ages, bears witness to the region's seigneurial past. Regardless of whether the flea market is held, the village remains a tourist site of interest for lovers of medieval Auvergne.
