Annual car boot sale of Sixt-sur-Aff, village of actor Michel Serrault in the Aff valley
Every year in May, the village of Sixt-sur-Aff (35550) organizes a car boot sale that attracts bargain hunters from the Aff valley and the south of Ille-et-Vilaine. Private exhibitors offer a wide range of second-hand items: clothes, toys, books, crockery, trinkets, tools, and decorative objects. The event takes place in a friendly village atmosphere, conducive to exchanges and good deals.
Sixt-sur-Aff is a commune of about 2,300 inhabitants located in the south of Ille-et-Vilaine, on the border of Morbihan. The village is crossed by the river Aff, which gives it a remarkable landscape setting. Sixt-sur-Aff is famous for having been the residence of the actor Michel Serrault, after whom a school is named. The local heritage includes the parish church, the communal body of water, and numerous hiking trails in the surrounding hedged countryside.
The car boot sale is traditionally held on the second Sunday of May, a period when the Aff valley takes on its most beautiful spring colors. Entry is free for visitors. Parking is easy in the village center, and a refreshment stand is usually offered by the organizers.
From Rennes, take the D177 towards Redon, then turn off towards Sixt-sur-Aff via the D65 (approx. 55 km, 50 min).
