Annual grand car boot sale in the tree-lined park of the castle of Arcis-sur-Aube
The Car boot sale of Arcis-sur-Aube is one of the major summer events in the Aube region, organized every July by the Comité des Fêtes et Foires d'Arcis-sur-Aube. Around 300 exhibitors set up along Rue de Brienne, in the magnificent tree-lined park of the castle, for a day of bargain hunting in the open air from 7 am to 7 pm. An ice cream vendor, children's entertainment (duck fishing), food, and drinks complete the offerings of this friendly and family-oriented summer day, in the heart of this former capital of the Aube.
Every July, the town of Arcis-sur-Aube takes on the air of a grand popular festival for its car boot sale, one of the most popular in the Aube region. Organized by the Comité des Fêtes et Foires d'Arcis-sur-Aube, the event brings together about 300 private exhibitors along Rue de Brienne, in the tree-lined and shaded park at the foot of the town's castle, on the banks of the Aube river.
One of the major assets of the Arcis-sur-Aube car boot sale is its natural setting: the stalls are set up under the century-old trees of the castle park, offering welcome coolness on hot July days. The 300 exhibitors—exclusively private individuals—offer an eclectic selection of furniture, tableware, clothing, toys, books, vinyl records, tools, and various trinkets. The park setting allows for pleasant browsing, far from the hustle and bustle of crowded town centers.
Exhibitors can set up from 7 am and welcome visitors until 7 pm, for a long day of open-air bargain hunting. The price for individuals is €2.50 per linear meter. Professionals (antique dealers, resellers, food trucks) are invited to contact the organizers directly.
A former sub-prefecture and the birthplace of Georges Jacques Danton, a figure of the French Revolution, Arcis-sur-Aube is a historic town nestled on the banks of the Aube river, about thirty kilometers north of Troyes. The 18th-century castle, formerly owned by the Talleyrand family, overlooks the town from the left bank of the Aube. Its tree-lined park provides an exceptional setting for outdoor events, the most emblematic of which is the annual car boot sale.
The Comité des Fêtes et Foires d'Arcis-sur-Aube ensures that the car boot sale is more than just a second-hand market. Children's entertainment, including the traditional duck fishing, is offered throughout the day. An ice cream vendor and fast-food stalls, as well as a bar, allow visitors to eat and spend a full day on site. Admission is free for all visitors.
