Annual car boot sale in the village of Ramerupt, in the Champagne plain in the Aube
The village of Ramerupt (10240) hosts its annual car boot sale every year, a friendly and popular event in the heart of the Champagne plain. This village gathering is one of the highlights of the community life of this small town in the Aube valley, located between Arcis-sur-Aube and Brienne-le-Château.
Ramerupt is a village of about 600 inhabitants, nestled in the Aube valley, about twenty kilometers northeast of Troyes. The municipal territory extends over the chalky Champagne plain, an open and bright landscape characteristic of this region. The village has a remarkable medieval church and some beautiful farmhouses that bear witness to the past prosperity of this cereal-growing area.
The Aube river, which flows nearby, is a natural structuring axis for this sector of the department. It was long a route for trade and industry, with mills, tanneries, and artisanal activities that animated the villages of the valley. Today, the course of the Aube is a recreational area appreciated by walkers, fishermen, and nature lovers.
The Ramerupt car boot sale is a human-scale event, reflecting rural life in the Aube. The exhibitors, mainly individuals from the village and neighboring hamlets, offer various items from their attics and cellars: wooden furniture, crockery and earthenware, farm tools, clothing and household linen, toys and books, trinkets, and decorative objects. You can sometimes find remarkable pieces related to the agricultural and artisanal heritage of Champagne: winegrower's tools, regional pottery, lithographs, and old documents.
The atmosphere is warm and family-friendly, like in these Champagne villages where neighborly relations are strong and community life is vibrant. The volunteer organizers ensure the welcome of exhibitors and visitors with smiles and efficiency, respecting local traditions.
The Aube Valley is a territory rich in natural and historical heritage. The Aube river, a tributary of the Seine, crosses a landscape of meadows, alluvial forests, and villages with white bell towers, offering an ideal setting for hiking, cycling, and fishing. The region is also marked by history: the camp of Arcis-sur-Aube, the battle of Brienne in 1814 during the Napoleonic campaigns, the medieval remains of the valley villages.
Near Ramerupt, the town of Brienne-le-Château (10500) is known for its military high school where Napoleon Bonaparte studied and for its Napoleonic museum. Brienne Castle and its park are also popular visiting sites for tourists passing through the Aube Valley.
The car boot sale is held annually in Ramerupt (10240). Entry is free for visitors. The town is accessible from Arcis-sur-Aube (D24, about 10 km) or from Brienne-le-Château. For precise dates and exhibitor registrations, contact the town hall or local organizers.
