Every spring, in April, the Association des Parents d'Élèves (APE) of the Mona Ozouf public primary school in Plougastel-Daoulas (29470) organizes its annual car boot sale. This family-friendly and convivial event allows individuals from all over the peninsula to sell their second-hand items, clothes, and toys in a neighborhood party atmosphere.

A solidarity initiative to fund educational projects

Like most association-run car boot sales organized by APEs, this day's main objective is to fund the students' school and extracurricular activities: educational outings, shows, purchase of educational materials, or participation in cultural projects. The Mona Ozouf public primary school is named after Mona Ozouf, a Breton historian and essayist born in Carhaix in 1931. Recognized for her work on the French Revolution, the Republic, and Breton identity, she is one of the great contemporary French intellectuals. Naming a school in Plougastel-Daoulas in her honor illustrates the commune's attachment to its Breton roots and the transmission of republican values.
