In mid-August, La Châtre organizes its last big flea market and car boot sale of the summer. Professional and private sellers set up their stalls in the streets of the historic center to offer antique furniture, trinkets, tableware, vintage clothing, books, tools, vinyl records, and all sorts of objects. This event traditionally marks the end of the flea market season in the Vallée Noire.

La Châtre is undoubtedly the Berry capital of summer flea markets. From May to August, the town hosts several successive events: spring car boot sale, June flea market, July 14th antiques fair, and this big August flea market. This rich schedule reflects the dynamism of this small town of 4,000 inhabitants and the appeal that Berry holds for treasure hunters and heritage enthusiasts.
