Spring car boot sale in the heart of the medieval village of Désaignes, organized by the Maison des Associations et de la Culture
The Brocante Vide-Grenier de Printemps de Désaignes is held annually in April in the center of the medieval village of Désaignes (07570). Organized by the Maison des Associations et de la Culture (M.A.C.), this event brings together about thirty private exhibitors in the cobbled alleys of this Ardèche village of character. Entry is free for visitors. The event is part of the festive day "Désaignes Animé".
Every year in April, the village of Désaignes (07570) comes alive for its Brocante Vide-Grenier de Printemps, organized by the Maison des Associations et de la Culture (M.A.C.). Nestled on a rocky outcrop in the heart of the Parc naturel régional des Monts d'Ardèche, between the Doux valley and the Ardèche plateau, Désaignes offers this spring event an exceptional setting: cobbled streets, medieval ramparts, and stone houses characteristic of this labeled Village de Caractère.
The car boot sale brings together around 30 exhibitors who set up in the historic center of Désaignes. Individuals and bargain hunters offer their finds: antique objects, furniture, tableware, clothing, toys, and various curiosities. Registration is by email to the organizer. Exhibitors receive a free coffee at the welcome desk, and the pitch fee is set at €2.50 per linear meter.
The flea market is part of the festive day "Désaignes Animé", which offers a rich program around the event: visits to the medieval castle classified as a Historic Monument, craft workshops (watercolor, stained glass, pottery), blacksmith and woodturner demonstrations, vineyard tour, wood-fired oven bread, llama presentation, and craft beer brewing. The afternoon concludes with a gypsy jazz concert accompanied by a tasting of local products.
Désaignes is one of the oldest communes in Ardèche. Founded on a Ligurian track – the merchants' route connecting the Rhône valley to the Ardèche mountains – the site was already occupied in Roman times, as evidenced by coins, baths, and villas from the 2nd century BC. The village reached its peak in the Middle Ages, becoming one of the largest towns in Vivarais with nearly 4,000 inhabitants at the Revolution. Its castle, built in the 12th century, is classified as a Historic Monument.
Today, labeled Petite Cité de Caractère, Désaignes charms with its preserved historic center, its Gothic alleys, and its ramparts, which form an ideal setting for the spring flea market. The village is located about fifteen kilometers from Lamastre, accessible from the Rhône valley via the road to Saint-Félicien.
The Maison des Associations et de la Culture (M.A.C.) of Désaignes, formerly known as the Office Municipal de la Culture de Désaignes (O.M.C.D.), is the organizing association for this event. Founded in 2017, its mission is to promote and develop culture in Désaignes, to liven up the village, and to support local associations. The M.A.C. organizes various events throughout the year: contemporary dance, jazz festival, open-air cinema, full moon evenings, and, in spring, this unmissable car boot sale.
The Brocante Vide-Grenier de Printemps de Désaignes returns in April 2026 to the medieval village of character in Ardèche, organized by the Maison des Associations et de la Culture. Free entry.
