The Pré de Forgeneuve, located on the D75 on the outskirts of Javerlhac towards Angoulême, is a magnificent shaded site bordered by a stream and a river. Every year in May, this bucolic setting hosts an original event combining a flea market, car boot sale, and tree and flower fair. Bargain hunters and gardening enthusiasts mingle here for a day of varied discoveries.
Javerlhac-et-la-Chapelle-Saint-Robert is a commune in the Périgord vert, in the north of Dordogne, on the border with Charente. The village is dominated by its 15th and 16th century château and benefits from a preserved natural environment, between wooded valleys and meadows. The Pré de Forgeneuve is a traditional gathering place for local festivities throughout the year.
The horticultural aspect of this event allows visitors to buy fruit trees, shrubs, perennial plants, and seasonal flowers from local nurseries and producers. Planting and maintenance advice accompanies the sales, making this fair a popular event for amateur gardeners in northern Dordogne.
From Nontron, take the D75 towards Angoulême (approximately 15 minutes). The Pré de Forgeneuve is located on the outskirts of Javerlhac on the right.
