Annual flea market organized by the Rugby Club Montbronnais at the Montbron rugby stadium
The Brocante de Montbron au Stade is an original event that takes place within the rugby stadium of Montbron, allée du Stade. Organized by the Rugby Club Montbronnais, this annual flea market is distinct from the monthly fair held on the 1st of each month in the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville. From 7:30 am to 6 pm, about a hundred exhibitors take over the stadium surroundings to offer furniture, crockery, trinkets, clothes, and various objects.
The originality of this event lies in the combination of the flea market and rugby. In the morning, an introduction to women's rugby is offered to young people aged 11 to 15, while in the afternoon, a women's rugby match livens up the stadium. This sporting and commercial combination attracts a varied audience, from bargain hunters to rugby fans, creating a festive and friendly atmosphere.
Montbron is a town of character in the northeast of Charente, nestled in the Bandiat valley, on the borders of Périgord. The town is famous for the manufacture of charentaises, those famous slippers whose tradition is perpetuated locally. The medieval castle, the Romanesque church of Saint-Maurice, and the picturesque streets make Montbron a pleasant stop for visitors coming to hunt for treasures at the stadium.
The Rugby Club Montbronnais provides catering and refreshments throughout the day, offering convivial cuisine prepared by the club's volunteers. The profits from the event contribute to the financing of the Montbron rugby club's sporting activities.
