The July 14th Flea Market in Rouffignac: Treasure Hunting in Mammoth Country

Every July 14th, the village of Rouffignac-Saint-Cernin-de-Reilhac hosts a flea market and car boot sale organized by the festival committee. From 8 am to 5 pm, exhibitors take over the streets of the village center to offer flea market items, car boot sale goods, and curiosities to treasure hunters in the Périgord Noir. The refreshment stand with sausages and fries allows for on-site dining.

Rouffignac, a Historic Village in Périgord Noir

Rouffignac-Saint-Cernin-de-Reilhac is a central village in Périgord Noir, world-renowned for its prehistoric cave, nicknamed the 'cave of a hundred mammoths'. This decorated cavity, classified as a historic monument, houses hundreds of prehistoric engravings and drawings dating back over 13,000 years. The village itself was tragically destroyed by the German army in March 1944 and completely rebuilt after the war.

A Day of Treasure Hunting and Celebration

The July 14th flea market combines flea market items and car boot sale goods in a festive atmosphere. Stall spaces are available at €2 per linear meter upon reservation with the festival committee. The day is part of the national holiday festivities, with on-site refreshments and food to extend the pleasure of treasure hunting.

A Region Rich in Heritage

Rouffignac is surrounded by oak and chestnut forests, in a hilly landscape typical of Périgord Noir. The municipality also organizes the popular Pumpkin Festival every year in October, with its dedicated car boot sale. The July 14th flea market complements a rich calendar of events that animates this village throughout the year.
