Antique dealers in a perched Luberon village
The professional brocante of Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt takes over this emblematic perched Luberon village for a day dedicated to antique dealers and professional brocanteurs. From 6am to 7pm, in the lanes and shaded squares beneath the medieval castle, lovers of fine pieces and Provençal antiques are in for a treat.
Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt, a perched village 7 km north of Apt, opens its historic heart for a day to host a brocante strictly reserved for professionals. Established antique dealers and brocanteurs take over the squares and lanes of the old centre, dominated by the remains of the medieval castle and its listed mills, offering an exceptional setting for quality hunting.
Professional selection ensures high standards: 18th and 19th-century Provençal furniture, diamond-point armoires, Louis XV and Louis XVI commodes, farmhouse tables, rush-seated armchairs, plus old ceramics (Moustiers, Apt, Castelnet), Biot glass, lamps, antique linen, engravings and paintings. Parisian decorators, Provence property owners and informed collectors attend.
Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt retains a rich past: 11th-12th century castle with spectacular perched ruins, old medieval dam, still-working oil mill, Romanesque church, wrought iron bell towers, fountains. Surrounded by lavender fields and AOC Ventoux vineyards, it offers splendid views of the Luberon massif and Calavon valley.
Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt is renowned for its olive oil (several historic mills), lavender honey, wines and many vestiges of its farming past. After the brocante, a visit to the medieval castle, windmills on the plateau and surrounding chapels offers a fine Provençal heritage interlude.
