The brocante of Gargilesse-Dampierre at the hamlet of Les Girauds takes place every summer in an enchanting setting. Exhibitors set up their stalls in the hamlet of Les Girauds, offering antique furniture, earthenware, art objects, trinkets, books, paintings, and a thousand finds.

Gargilesse, village of artists and George Sand

Gargilesse-Dampierre is a commune of about 300 inhabitants nestled in the gorges of the Gargilesse, a tributary of the Creuse. The village inspired the novelist George Sand, who owned a house there, now transformed into a museum. Impressionist painters—Monet, Guillaumin, Osterlind—stayed there, attracted by the light and landscapes. The 11th-century castle, the Romanesque church, and the hanging gardens form an exceptional heritage that makes every visit a discovery.
