About Brocante Penol

The brocante and car boot sale of Penol takes place at the village hall, route de la Côte. Organized by the local festival committee, this spring event welcomes individuals and bargain hunters in a warm village atmosphere. The wood-fired pognes and saint-genix, a local specialty sold on-site, add a gourmet touch to this day of treasure hunting in a rural setting, in the heart of the Pays des Terres de Berlioz.

The Penol Flea Market: Treasure Hunting in the Land of Berlioz

Penol is a small commune of about 500 inhabitants located in the Pays des Terres de Berlioz, between La Côte-Saint-André and Beaurepaire. Its festival committee regularly organizes a flea market and car boot sale at the village hall, route de la Côte, in a friendly and authentically rural spirit.

An Outdoor Market in Front of the Village Hall

The event runs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with no prior reservation required. Exhibitors set up their stalls in front of and inside the communal village hall, offering the contents of their attics and cellars: crockery, clothing, tools, trinkets, books, and objects of all kinds. The no-reservation format encourages spontaneity and attracts both regular and occasional sellers.

Wood-Fired Pognes, a Local Specialty

One of the particular attractions of this flea market is the sale of wood-fired pognes and saint-genix. These traditional brioches from the Dauphiné region, flavored with orange blossom and filled with pink pralines, are a delight that visitors particularly appreciate. This gastronomic touch distinguishes the Penol flea market from other similar events in the region.

Penol, a Village in the Pays des Terres de Berlioz

Nestled in the hills of the Pays des Terres de Berlioz, Penol is one of those small Isère communes that cultivate their rural identity. The proximity of La Côte-Saint-André, the birthplace of composer Hector Berlioz, gives this area an additional cultural dimension. The Penol flea market is part of the dynamic associative life of this charming village.
