Spring street sale in the village of Pléchâtel, south of Rennes in the Vilaine valley
Every spring, the village of Pléchâtel comes alive with its annual street sale. Exhibitors — individuals and flea market vendors — set up their stalls in the streets of the town center, offering clothing, toys, furniture, books, tableware, and all sorts of items. The atmosphere is that of a relaxed and friendly village festival, where people take their time to rummage and chat.
Pléchâtel (35470) is a commune of about 3,000 inhabitants located in the Vilaine valley, about thirty kilometers south of Rennes. The village, dominated by its schist church, retains an authentic rural charm. The banks of the Vilaine offer pleasant walks, and the local heritage testifies to a rich history. The spring street sale is part of the tradition of village festivals that punctuate the life of rural communes in Ille-et-Vilaine.
The Braderie de Pléchâtel is one of the first major spring street sales in the south of the department. It marks the beginning of the good season and attracts visitors from neighboring towns — Bain-de-Bretagne, Guichen, Laillé — as well as bargain hunters from the Rennes metropolitan area. Refreshments and food are provided on-site by local associations.
From Rennes, head south via the D177 then D77 towards Pléchâtel (approx. 30 km).
