The Braderie de Hambye is one of the most important flea market events in the Manche department. Organized by the Collectif Braderie, this annual event brings together around 280 exhibitors spread over 2 kilometers of stalls throughout the village of Hambye (50450). In its 42nd edition, the Hambye braderie has firmly established itself as a major event on the Norman flea market calendar.

Two kilometers of stalls is a considerable length, allowing visitors to spend hours browsing without ever getting bored. The 280 exhibitors — a mix of individuals and professionals — offer an extraordinarily varied range of goods: antique furniture and objects, old tools and agricultural equipment, crockery, linens, clothing, toys, books, vinyl records, vintage hi-fi equipment, bicycles, vintage cycles, car parts, collections of all kinds.

The braderie runs through the village of Hambye, transforming its streets into a huge open-air market. This setup gives the event a unique festive character: exhibitors set up on sidewalks, in parking lots, and in gardens, creating a popular festival atmosphere brimming with energy. Thousands of visitors make the trip from neighboring towns — Saint-Lô, Coutances, Granville, Avranches — but also from Orne, Calvados, and neighboring Brittany.

The Collectif Braderie, the event organizer, brings together local associations and volunteers who ensure the smooth running of this demanding day on a voluntary basis. The logistical organization of a 2-kilometer braderie with 280 exhibitors requires considerable advance work: assigning pitches, signage, security, catering, parking. The repeated success of the event over 42 editions testifies to the quality of this organization.

Hambye, Abbey Village

Hambye (50450) is a small village in the Norman countryside, famous for its 12th-century Benedictine abbey, one of the most beautiful medieval ruins in Normandy.
