Give bicycles a second life

The Bourse aux Vélos de Sancoins is organized by the association Mon Cher Vélo, which works to promote cycling and soft mobility in the Cher department. This annual event, held in March at the Oscar Metenier community center, offers a simple and effective consignment system: owners drop off their working bicycles in the morning, set their price, and the team of volunteers handles the sale.

Sancoins, crossroads of southern Cher

Sancoins is a small town located in the south of the Cher department, at the confluence of the Aubois and Allier rivers. Historically known for its livestock fairs which made it one of the largest markets in France, Sancoins maintains a tradition of markets and commercial exchanges. The Oscar Metenier community center, located at Place du Champ du Puits, is an important hub for community activities for the town and its surroundings.

A transparent consignment system

The sale operates simply:

• Bicycle drop-off: in the morning from 9 am, only bicycles in working order are accepted
• Price: freely set by the seller
• Commission: 10% of the sale price goes to the association
• Collection: money or unsold bicycles are returned at the end of the day

The proceeds help finance the activities of the association Mon Cher Vélo, including its repair workshops and cycling promotion initiatives.
