Family car boot sale 'Range ta Chambre' in the fortified medieval village of Boersch, on the Alsace Wine Route
The Boersch Range ta Chambre is part of the trend for participatory car boot sales that encourage children and teenagers to become active sellers. The principle is simple: each young exhibitor sets up their own stand, arranges their items, sets prices and manages transactions, accompanied by their parents. Toys, soft toys, board games, video games, consoles, books, comics, manga, clothing, shoes, school supplies, musical instruments and accessories of all kinds find buyers among families delighted to find bargains at minimal prices. The event also has an educational dimension: children discover the basics of commerce, learn to negotiate, welcome customers and manage their little till. Fun learning that makes parents proud.
Boersch is a Bas-Rhin village of around 2,500 inhabitants, located a few kilometres from Obernai on the famous Alsace Wine Route. The village is remarkable for its largely preserved medieval enclosure, its three fortified gates, its Renaissance town hall and its magnificent 16th and 17th century half-timbered houses. Boersch is also renowned for its six-bucket well, a masterpiece of Alsatian Renaissance classified as a historic monument. The surrounding vineyard produces renowned wines, notably Riesling and Pinot Gris from the Grand Cru Engelberg. Organising a car boot sale in such a setting offers visitors an experience beyond mere bargain hunting: it is an immersion in the most authentic Alsatian heritage.
Beyond the commercial aspect, the Boersch Range ta Chambre is above all a village fête. The atmosphere is joyful and relaxed, exchanges spontaneous, encounters warm. Families take the opportunity to stroll through the medieval lanes, admire the flower-decked facades, photograph the fortified gates and taste the specialities offered by the catering stands. The refreshment stand and treat stalls — crêpes, cakes, cold drinks — punctuate the route with pleasant breaks. For visitors coming from further afield, Boersch also offers beautiful walking opportunities through the vineyard and forests of the nearby Mont Sainte-Odile.
