Second-hand sewing supplies, cross stitch and creative hobbies fair organised by the Point de Croix association at the Rosheim town hall
The Seamstresses' Flea Market in Rosheim is organised each spring by the Point de Croix - Atelier Créatif association, based in the medieval town at the foot of the Vosges. This specialised fair, which has become over the editions a must-attend event for enthusiasts from Alsace and the Grand Est region, is held at the Rosheim town hall. The idea is simple but valuable: allow amateurs of sewing, embroidery, cross stitch, patchwork, knitting and creative hobbies to sell their surplus supplies, unfinished works, books and unused material, and to find treasures at low prices to enrich their own workbasket. In a warm and passionate atmosphere, female exhibitors (and a few male exhibitors) display on their tables a colourful universe of threads, fabrics and creations.
Visitors discover an incredible variety of supplies: fabrics of all types (cotton, linen, flannel, jersey, mercerised), old and modern buttons, ribbons, trims, lace, passementerie, embroidery threads DMC and Anchor in hundreds of colours, wool for knitting and crochet, Aida, linen and even-weave embroidery canvases, needlework canvases, cross stitch patterns and charts, specialised books and magazines (Mains et Merveilles, Création Point de Croix), embroidery kits, needles, scissors, beads, fancy buttons, stamps, scrapbooking papers, works in progress, vintage and modern sewing patterns, old sewing machines and haberdashery tools. Small repairs are sometimes offered on site by experienced volunteers.
Rosheim is one of the oldest and most charming medieval towns of Alsace, located at the foot of Mont Sainte-Odile on the Wine Route. Listed among the Most Beautiful Detours of France, it preserves an exceptional heritage with its ramparts, its fortified gates (Porte basse, Porte du Lion, Porte de l'Horloge, Porte Zittwegel), its Saints-Pierre-et-Paul church in the Rhenish Romanesque style (12th century), its Romanesque House (one of the oldest civilian houses in Alsace) and its many half-timbered houses. The town hall, set in this historic setting, regularly hosts the town's major events, including the Seamstresses' Flea Market which each year gathers a passionate audience sometimes coming from afar.
