Grand flea market for Ascension in the historic town of Déols, near Châteauroux
Each year, on Ascension Day, the commune of Déols (36130) hosts its large flea market in the streets of the town center. Around 100 exhibitors, professionals and individuals, set up their stalls near the remains of the famous Notre-Dame Abbey, founded in 917 by Ebbes le Noble. Bargain hunters can find antique furniture, trinkets, tableware, books, vinyl records, decorative objects, and curiosities of all kinds. A refreshment stand and food service are available on-site to enhance this day of strolling.
Déols is a commune of about 8,000 inhabitants, immediately neighboring Châteauroux, the prefecture of the Indre department. The town owes its fame to its Benedictine abbey, considered the sister of the prestigious Cluny Abbey and one of the most powerful in Berry during the Middle Ages: in 1115, no fewer than 162 churches and priories depended on it. Today, the Romanesque bell tower, the Gothic cloister arcades, and the lapidary museum bear witness to this past grandeur. The Ascension flea market allows you to combine treasure hunting with the discovery of this exceptional heritage, on the banks of the Indre river.
The flea market is held on Thursday, May 14, 2026 (Ascension Day) in the center of Déols. Free entry for visitors. Refreshments and food available on-site. Déols is accessible from the A20 motorway (Châteauroux exit) and has an SNCF train station on the Paris-Limoges-Toulouse line.
