The Archingeay Flea Market is a must-attend event on May 1st in Charente-Maritime. Organized by the Arcantois Philatelic and Numismatic Club, this event brings together between 100 and 200 exhibitors, both individuals and professionals, in the streets of l'Église and Raymond Joubert in the heart of the village. For over twenty years, this flea market has attracted bargain hunters from all over Saintonge, who come to sift through the stalls from 7 am to 7 pm in a friendly and rural atmosphere, with refreshments and food available on site.
Every May 1st, the small village of Archingeay, nestled in the Saintonge countryside between Saint-Jean-d'Angély and Saintes, hosts its big annual flea market. This event, which has become a local institution since its creation over twenty years ago, attracts bargain hunters from all over Charente-Maritime and neighboring departments. The 2025 edition marks the 23rd edition of this popular event.
The stalls are set up along Rue de l'Église and Rue Raymond Joubert, transforming the village center into a vast open-air flea market. Between 100 and 200 exhibitors offer a varied assortment: antique furniture, crockery, tools, books, trinkets, vintage toys, and collectibles of all kinds. Visitors wander freely from 7 am to 7 pm, taking their time to rummage, compare, and negotiate as they discover treasures.
A rural commune of about 800 inhabitants located in the canton of Saint-Jean-d'Angély, Archingeay charms with its bucolic setting and its discreet heritage. The Romanesque church, the white stone houses, and the hedged paths form a typically Charentais landscape. The May 1st flea market is the perfect opportunity to discover this endearing village while enjoying a day of outdoor treasure hunting.
The Arcantois Philatelic and Numismatic Club, the historic organizer of the event, ensures smooth logistics. Refreshments and food are available on site, allowing visitors and exhibitors to eat throughout the day. Restrooms are provided. Exhibitor pitches are charged at €2.50 per linear meter, with a minimum of 5 meters if the vehicle remains next to the stand.
