The reference for militaria collectors in northern France
The 46th Military Memorabilia Show of Villers-Bretonneux is a reference fair for militaria collectors, held at the covered market of this emblematic Somme front town. Nearly half a century of existence makes this event one of the oldest of its kind in northern France.
For 46 years, the Military Memorabilia Show of Villers-Bretonneux has established itself as one of the most important militaria gatherings in France, attracting collectors, amateur historians, specialized dealers and descendants of soldiers. Its exceptional longevity, rare in the world of collectors' fairs, testifies to the solidity of an event that has crossed the decades while preserving its original spirit.
The choice of Villers-Bretonneux to host this show is no coincidence. This Somme town, located about twenty kilometers east of Amiens, is one of the major First World War remembrance sites. It was here, during the great Battle of Amiens in August 1918, that Australian troops recaptured the village from the Germans on the night of April 24-25, 1918. The Australian National Memorial pays tribute to the 10,000 Australian soldiers missing in the Somme.
At the Villers-Bretonneux covered market, professional and informed amateur exhibitors offer a remarkable selection for militaria collectors: uniforms and equipment from all periods (from the 1870 Franco-Prussian War to recent conflicts), French and foreign medals and decorations, edged weapons (sabers, bayonets), insignia, helmets, demilitarized collector weapons, photographs, old postcards, military documents, specialized books, and trench art.
Beyond the commercial dimension, the Military Memorabilia Show is a privileged place for exchanges between enthusiasts. Exhibitors are often true specialists capable of telling the story of an object, specifying its date, regiment of origin, and use. Visitors frequently bring family objects for identification.
The show is traditionally held from 8am to 2pm at the covered market on rue du Général Leclerc. Admission is set at 3 euros, free for children under 12. Free parking adjoins the hall. For exhibitors, central 1.80m spaces are 20 euros, wall spaces 40 euros, with coffee offered by the organizers.
