41st edition of the major annual Démuin flea market
The 41st edition of the Démuin Réderia takes over the village on Friday 8 May 2026. A must-see on the Picard réderie calendar, this event, running since 1985, gathers several hundred exhibitors across the village streets and squares. Private sellers, dealers and residents lay out their treasures for an authentic day of bargain hunting in the Santerre amiénois.
Forty-one years of existence: the Démuin Réderia needs no introduction in the Santerre amiénois. Launched in 1985, this major village flea market has become one of the most anticipated 8 May rendezvous in the Somme. Friday 8 May 2026 marks its 41st edition, a round symbolic number showing how attached residents and bargain hunters are to this event now woven into Picard community life.
To welcome the crowd of bargain hunters, the entire village of Démuin mobilises. Central square, main streets, alleys: every corner of the village becomes exhibition space. Locals open their shopfronts, volunteers manage traffic, associations run the refreshment stand. The event draws thousands each year from Amiens, Montdidier, Moreuil and across Picardy.
With 41 editions under its belt, the Démuin Réderia has all the features of a true flea fair. Private sellers and professional dealers are balanced: vintage clothing, antique furniture, tableware, crystal, Picard farm tools, toys, books, vinyl, old postcards, militaria, advertising pieces, trinkets, curiosities. Collectors look for rare finds, families for bargains, local history enthusiasts for Picard relics.
Démuin is a Somme village on the banks of the Luce, in the Santerre amiénois, about 25 km south-east of Amiens. It retains its church, traditional Picard houses and strong community spirit. The area was at the heart of First World War fighting: the 1918 Battle of the Matz and offensives around the Luce left their marks.
A réderie of this size comes with ample refreshments. Official buvette, food trucks, sausage-chips stalls, crêpes, candy floss and waffles feed hungry hunters. The village bistro and square cafés run at full tilt. The atmosphere is good-natured, noisy, animated by hagglers and street negotiations — typical of a big popular Picard fair.
To make the most of the Réderia, arrive early (7am): the best pieces go fast and parking near the centre fills quickly. Bring plenty of cash, a sturdy bag or wheeled trolley, a light jacket for the morning chill, and a family car if you plan to take furniture home.
