The historic multi-collection fair of the Santerre
The 32nd Multi-collection Fair of Démuin is a reference event for collectors in northern France. Held at the community hall of this Santerre village for more than three decades, it brings together every December enthusiasts of postcards, stamps, coins, beans, old papers and collectibles of all kinds.
With 32 editions under its belt, the Démuin Multi-collection Fair is among the oldest events of its kind in the Somme. This exceptional longevity, rare in the association world of collection fairs, testifies to the vitality of a community of enthusiasts.
Démuin is a small rural Somme town located in the Santerre, this vast fertile plain dedicated to large crops stretching east and southeast of Amiens. The village, modest in size, fits into the tight network of Picard towns dotting the plateau.
The name multi-collection is well deserved: the Démuin fair hosts exhibitors covering a remarkably wide range of themes. Cartophiles find antique postcards sorted by town, theme, era. Philatelists display their albums of French and foreign stamps. Numismatists offer French coins, silver pieces, old banknotes, tokens and medals. Added are collectors of galette beans (fabophily), champagne capsules, pins, old advertisements, old papers, military pieces, figurines, miniature cars.
What makes the particular charm of multi-collection fairs like Démuin's is the club atmosphere. Exhibitors, often collectors themselves, perfectly know their fields and take the time to explain, advise, and exchange with visitors.
For informed collectors, the Démuin Fair is also an opportunity to find rare or missing pieces in their collections. Exhibitors often bring stocks patiently built up over the years.
