Eleven flea markets and antique fairs across Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes this weekend, from the Allanche antiques fair to the Tence summer market, Aug 8-9 2026.
Flea markets and antique fairs keep Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes busy all summer. But the weekend of August 8-9, 2026 (08/08 and 09/08) brings an unusually dense lineup, from the Cantal all the way to Lake Geneva. Our pick of the weekend is the Allanche fair in the Cantal, where around a hundred hand-picked antique dealers bring out their best pieces for three days. Between century-old street sales and hamlet-sized car boot sales, how do you choose without losing a whole morning on the road? We sorted the weekend into eleven stops, from the busiest to the most under-the-radar.
Allanche (Cantal): the national antiques fair, three days running
Each year in early August, the municipal park in Allanche turns into an open-air antiques fair for three days, from Friday, August 7 to Sunday, August 9, 2026. Full details on the Allanche fair cover opening hours across all three days.
The organizing association hand-picks around a hundred professional exhibitors specializing in folk art, antique jewelry and period furniture. No mismatched crockery here — this fair targets serious collectors, as it does every year. That level of curation has given it a reputation well beyond the Cantal, drawing buyers from other regions.
Tence (Haute-Loire): over 300 exhibitors and a dance the night before
Boulevard Léon Rocher in Tence hosts its big summer flea market on Sunday, August 9, with more than 300 exhibitors expected. It's one of the largest summer gatherings on the Haute-Loire calendar. The day starts at 4am for early arrivals and food stalls run until evening. A free public dance opens the festivities on Saturday night, turning what would otherwise be a morning of bargain-hunting into a full weekend outing. 2026 edition details.
Saillans (Drôme): 35 editions and 120 exhibitors in the valley
On Sunday, August 9, the village center of Saillans, in the Drôme valley, hosts its summer flea market. It's an event with more than 35 editions behind it, making it one of the longest-running and best-attended in the department. Around 120 professional and private exhibitors line the streets of this picturesque village. Saillans flea market is worth an early start or a late-afternoon visit. Year after year, the event has built a loyal following of collectors chasing furniture, tableware and vintage finds.
Cérilly (Allier): the bocage bourbonnais street sale turns 45
On Saturday, August 8, the streets of Cérilly, on the edge of the Tronçais forest, host the 45th edition of its street sale and flea market. Organized by Cérilly Loisirs Animation, the day runs from 7am to 7pm with food stalls on site. Forty-five uninterrupted years make it an institution of the bocage bourbonnais, well beyond an ordinary village car boot sale. Cérilly's street sale remains free to visit.
Ruy-Montceau (Isère): 300 exhibitors for a charity cause
The Lavitel fairground in Ruy-Montceau fills up from 5am on Sunday, August 9 for a flea market and car boot sale. Around 300 exhibitors take part, running until 5:30pm. What sets it apart: it's organized by a charity. That gives extra purpose to the €3-per-metre exhibitor fee. It's one of the largest events of the weekend in Isère. Ruy-Montceau flea market also has food and drink stalls all day.
Clermont-Ferrand: the Salins flea market, the agglomeration's Sunday fixture
Every Sunday morning, Place Gambetta in Clermont-Ferrand's Salins district fills with around 150 exhibitors. It's the biggest weekly flea market in Auvergne, drawing between 5,000 and 10,000 visitors depending on the week. The Salins flea market runs again on Sunday, August 9. Antique furniture, tableware, vinyl records, vintage clothing and books mix in an urban market atmosphere, quite different from the village car boot sales that dominate the rest of the region this weekend.
Cenves (Rhône): the only flea market on the Beaujolais side this weekend
On Saturday, August 8, 2026, the small village of Cenves, right in the heart of Beaujolais wine country, opens its center to a one-day flea market. Furniture, clothing, decor, books, toys and collectibles change hands in a village atmosphere with no pretension. That modest format is exactly the point. Entry is free. Cenves flea market is, this weekend, the only listed event on the Rhône side of the region.
Morzine (Haute-Savoie): browsing stalls facing the Portes du Soleil
The Histoire et Patrimoine association in Morzine organizes its summer car boot sale on Sunday, August 9, right in this Portes du Soleil resort. Locals, second-home owners and holidaymakers gather in a setting that has nothing to do with lowland flea markets: the Aulps valley provides the backdrop.
Exhibitors here tend to be residents rather than the traveling professionals who work the bigger events in Puy-de-Dôme or Drôme. Morzine's car boot sale rounds out a busy summer for the organizing association.
Besse-et-Saint-Anastaise: an antiques fair that moves indoors, beneath the town hall
From Friday, August 7 to Sunday, August 9, the village hall in Besse-et-Saint-Anastaise hosts a summer session of its antiques and collectibles fair. The A.G.S.O association runs several such events a year — a winter fair in February, summer sessions in July and August. This one stands out for its mixed format: an indoor exhibition paired with an outdoor car boot sale, useful on the rainy days that aren't rare at altitude even in high summer. The August session in Besse runs across all three weekend days.
Les Estables: a flea market that ends with cabbage soup
On the second Sunday of August — August 9, 2026 — the center of Les Estables, one of Haute-Loire's highest villages, hosts its open-air flea market, organized by the local hunting association. Les Estables flea market draws as much for its stalls as for its evening finale. Nothing unusual so far, but the day extends into the evening with a well-established local tradition: cabbage soup, served from 7pm at the community hall. A communal meal that turns a simple morning of bargain-hunting into a full mountain day out.
Lachamp-Raphaël: browsing on Ardèche's volcanic plateaus
On Sunday, August 9, the Les Chemins Retrouvés association organizes the Chamiers car boot sale on Place Pierre Dumond in Lachamp-Raphaël. It's a village perched on Ardèche's volcanic plateaus, far from the better-known events of the Rhône valley. Locals and visitors gather to trade, buy and sell in a small mountain-village atmosphere. Entry is free. Lachamp-Raphaël's car boot sale completes, alongside Les Estables and Morzine, this weekend's trio of mountain stops.
Eleven stops, from the municipal park in Allanche to the heights of Lachamp-Raphaël, for an especially packed weekend of August 8-9, 2026 in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. More flea markets and antique fairs are on across France this same weekend — find them on the full weekend agenda.
