The Foire aux Antiquités Brocante Collections of Saint-Antoine-l'Abbaye is an exceptional event in more ways than one. With over 100 editions to its name, it is among the oldest events of its kind in Isère and the entire Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Its setting, the Grande Cour de l'abbaye, is simply remarkable: this medieval village, classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, offers a unique and fascinating backdrop for an antique fair. The timeless atmosphere that reigns in the cobbled streets of the village adds an emotional dimension to the treasure hunt experience.
Unlike car boot sales and flea markets for individuals, the Foire aux Antiquités of Saint-Antoine-l'Abbaye is strictly reserved for professional exhibitors. This rigorous selection guarantees the quality and authenticity of the items presented: antique furniture from all periods, art and craft objects, paintings and prints, finely crafted silverware, Limoges porcelain and regional earthenware, glassware and crystalware, antique jewelry and collectible watches, curiosities, and rare pieces. Antique lovers and discerning collectors will find exceptional items in a setting that perfectly showcases them.
The abbey of Saint-Antoine, founded in the 12th century, is the historical cradle of the Hospitaller Order of Saint Anthony, which treated patients suffering from "Saint Anthony's Fire." The village that developed around this imposing building has fully retained its medieval character with its half-timbered houses, cobbled streets, old market halls, and shaded squares. The Grande Cour, a vast esplanade at the foot of the abbey's imposing Gothic facade, is the ideal place to host this fair, which perpetuates the village's centuries-old trading tradition.
The fair is held on a Sunday in August, from 10 am to 8 pm, with free admission. Free parking is available on the outskirts of the village. Take advantage of your visit to explore the abbey, its medieval gardens, and its temporary exhibitions. The village's restaurants and cafes offer quality refreshments.
