The weekly bargain hunt on the seafront promenade
Sainte-Maxime is one of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez's most dynamic resorts, with a very lively pedestrian centre. The Promenade Aymeric Simon-Lorière, running along the shore between the main beach and the harbour, hosts a professional flea market every Wednesday of the year, now a landmark event. Intensity varies with the season.
All sellers are professional antique dealers, mostly from the Var and neighbouring departments. They lay out finds in the shade of palms facing the sea, roughly 8am-6pm depending on season. Free admission.
The weekly rhythm lets regulars follow the dealers' fresh stock. Many collectors do the Wednesday market, then Thursday in Cogolin, then Sunday at Mas de Bagatin in Grimaud — the famous "Gulf hunting circuit". The seafront setting is calmer than indoor fairs, lovely in shoulder seasons.
The Promenade Aymeric Simon-Lorière runs along Sainte-Maxime's shore. Via the D559. Paid parking in town.
Every Wednesday, January to December 2026 (exceptional closures aside), usually 8am to 6pm seasonally.
Professional antique dealers. Booking through the local trade body.
High footfall May-September, quieter off-season. Many cafés and gelaterias nearby.
