Autumn browsing in Haut-Poitou
Vouzailles is a small commune of around 430 inhabitants in the Haut-Poitou, northern Vienne. Typical village of this agricultural region, organised around Saint-Maurice church, keeping a fine rural identity with pale-stone houses and cereal-plain landscapes. The October brocante is one of the events that animate this discreet town between Mirebeau and Loudun.
Deeply marked by agriculture and viticulture. Large cereal plains alongside AOP Haut-Poitou vineyards (known for quality whites and rosés), cattle and goat farms (famous chabichou), active farmsteads. This agricultural richness shows in regional brocantes — easy to find old farm tools, farm furniture, utensils linked to dairy processing or winemaking.
Vouzailles is part of the Neuvillois, a Haut-Poitou sub-territory around Neuville-de-Poitou. Strong rural identity marked by agricultural terroir and community dynamism. Many Neuvillois villages hold brocantes, flea markets and village festivals year-round.
