In the heart of Haut-Poitou, less than twenty minutes from Poitiers, Vouillé blends farming tradition and community life. Every spring, La Case sociocultural centre runs a spring-summer clothing fair for adults that has become a local fixture for residents across the Haut-Poitou and Clain area. The 2026 edition runs from 21 to 24 April, with deposit, sale and return phases.

A solidarity consignment principle

The system is simple: depositors bring clean spring-summer clothes, set their own prices with the help of volunteers, then come back to collect unsold items and the money earned. The centre takes a small commission to fund its workshops and activities.

Several benefits: garments get a second life, buyers enjoy a wide selection at friendly prices, and the community centre finances its work. In today's push for circular economy, such textile sales are essential to local life.

Vouillé, around 3,500 inhabitants, is a canton chief-town of Haut-Poitou. The name echoes the famous 507 battle where Clovis defeated the Visigoth king Alaric II.
