Autumn flea market in a Santerre village
Villers-lès-Roye, a small village of about 250 inhabitants a few kilometres south-west of Roye, holds its annual Sunday flea market each year. The 2026 edition is set for Sunday 4 October. On a human scale, this rural event is part of the tradition of Santerre réderies that animate southern Somme's autumn weekends. It mainly gathers private sellers from neighbouring communes and a few local dealers.
Like all Somme village réderies, Villers-lès-Roye offers varied bric-a-brac: rustic furniture, country tableware, old tools, household linen, books, toys from past decades, records, trinkets, second-hand clothing. The atmosphere is relaxed, prices gentle, haggling friendly. Lovers of authentic bargain hunting especially enjoy this kind of small gathering where real finds at modest prices are still possible.
The flea market is also a moment of village life. Residents use the occasion to meet, chat, share a coffee or a beer. The organising committee (usually the town hall or festival committee) runs a drinks stand and light catering. In such a small village, the event is a long-awaited highlight of the year. Outside visitors find a warm welcome and an authentic atmosphere.
The village belongs to the Roye area, central part of the Santerre. This territory is marked by large farming plains, churches rebuilt after 1918 and Great War memorials. Access from Roye is via the D26 (about 10 km), and from the A1 motorway via the Roye exit. A visit to the area (Roye centre, Montdidier) pleasantly extends the day.
