The inhabitants of the hamlet empty cellars and attics, with chocolatier Adrien Fort
Each year in spring (May or June), the inhabitants of the hamlet of Péret, in Saint-Julien-d'Ance (43500), organize their village-wide clear-out over an entire weekend. An authentic event where individuals empty cellars and attics from 8 am to 5 pm, with the presence of artisan chocolatier Adrien Fort. 8th edition expected in 2026.
In the hamlet of Péret, in the commune of Saint-Julien-d'Ance (43500), a few families had the idea of transforming their neighborhood into an open-air second-hand market. Born from a collective spirit and a desire to share, the Vide-Village de Péret is a participatory event where it is the inhabitants themselves—and not professional exhibitors from elsewhere—who open their doors and empty their cellars, attics, sheds, and gardens to offer their items.
The Vide-Village de Péret differs from classic car boot sales by its concept: no formal registration, no commercial structure, just neighbors who decide together to offer their goods for sale or trade over a weekend in May or June. From 8 am to 5 pm, on both days of the weekend, the hamlet transforms into an open-air treasure hunt. Each participating house displays its items in front of it, creating a discovery trail in the hamlet's alleys and courtyards.
One of the particular attractions of the Vide-Village de Péret is the presence of chocolatier Adrien Fort, an artisan based in the hamlet itself (835 Route du Suchat, Péret). Adrien Fort offers his artisanal chocolate creations—bonbons, bars, marshmallows, spreads—to visitors looking for treasures. The chocolate factory, certified by Velay Attractivité for its passion for artisanal work, is thus honored during the village clear-out, offering a gourmet and local dimension to the event.
The 8th edition of the Vide-Village de Péret is scheduled for 2026, thus marking the gradual establishment of this event in the local calendar. In a few years, this spring gathering has become a landmark for treasure hunters and families in the Saint-Julien-d'Ance and Velay region. Its reputation grows with each edition, attracting more and more visitors curious to discover this typical hamlet in Haute-Loire and its hidden treasures.
Saint-Julien-d'Ance is a commune in the Ance valley, in Haute-Loire. The village benefits from the reputation of the Adrien Fort chocolate factory, a regional reference for artisanal chocolate, which exports its creations to markets and fairs in the region. The Vide-Village de Péret takes advantage of this happy association between rural tradition and gourmet craftsmanship to establish itself as an atypical and endearing event.
