Original house clear-out by the Mareauzidées association: over 60 participating houses throughout the village
Every May, the Mareauzidées association organizes an original house clear-out where over 60 houses in the village of Mareau-aux-Prés open their doors and gardens to visitors. Never seen before in the Loire Valley: explore the village from house to house, map in hand, discovering objects, furniture, and curiosities offered directly by residents. A friendly and unique concept!
The Mareauzidées association, based in Mareau-aux-Prés (Loiret), has devised a house clear-out concept that is as original as it is endearing. Every spring, over sixty houses in the village open their doors, gardens, and barns to visitors for a collective house clear-out where each resident is both a seller and a host. A unique experience in the Orléans region.
The principle is simple and appealing: participants set up their items directly in their homes, in their living rooms, gardens, or garages. Visitors receive a map of the participating houses and set off to explore the village, street by street, as they please. You can find:
Mareau-aux-Prés is a wine-growing village in the Loire Valley, located about fifteen kilometers west of Orléans on the banks of the Loire. This exceptional terroir, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is renowned for its vineyards and troglodyte cellars. The house clear-out concept fits perfectly with the tradition of conviviality and hospitality characteristic of this village on the Loire.
Mareauzidées is an association of passionate volunteers who bring life to the village of Mareau-aux-Prés. Their creativity is particularly expressed in the organization of this atypical house clear-out, which combines participatory flea market, discovery of village heritage, and authentic human encounters. The map of participating houses is available on their Facebook page, at the town hall, or under the Halle on the day of the event.
The Vide Maisons Mareauzidées is much more than a simple flea market: it is an invitation to discover the nooks and crannies of a characterful village, with its typical Loire architecture, cobbled streets, tuffeau houses, and secret gardens. Visitors often leave with objects but also with memories of hospitality and conviviality.
The event takes place on a Sunday in May in Mareau-aux-Prés (45370), from 9 am to 6 pm. Free admission. The map of participating houses can be downloaded from Facebook or obtained under the Halle in the morning. Access by car from Orléans or along the banks of the Loire.
