The Gasconnades Car Boot Sale, Lauzun's Popular Festival

Every August, the village of Lauzun celebrates its Gasconnades, the big local popular festival that brings together residents and visitors for a day of festivities. Alongside the entertainment, the car boot sale is one of the highlights of the event: many private sellers take over the village center to offer their treasures at affordable prices. The 2025 edition was held on Sunday, August 10th.

A Car Boot Sale in the Historic Center

The Gasconnades car boot sale takes place in the streets and squares of the historic center of Lauzun, at the foot of the medieval castle and half-timbered houses. The sellers, exclusively private individuals, offer clothing, toys, books, tableware, decorative items, and various second-hand goods. The atmosphere is lively and friendly, in a remarkable heritage setting that makes this event a double pleasure: bargain hunting and discovering the village.

The Gasconnades, a Gascon Village Festival

The Gasconnades are much more than just a car boot sale: it's the village festival in all its popular and friendly dimension. The day ends with a festive meal with a classic menu and a vegetarian option, accompanied by a local band. The evening continues with a popular ball. Everything is carefully organized by the Comité des Fêtes de Lauzun (Festival Committee of Lauzun), a volunteer association that mobilizes many residents to ensure the smooth running of the event. Entry to the car boot sale is free, sellers pay €2 per linear meter.

Lauzun and its Castle between Périgord and Lot-et-Garonne

Lauzun (47410) is a village in the Lot-et-Garonne region located between the Pays de Duras and Marmandais, dominated by its 15th-century castle which bore the coat of arms of the Duke of Lauzun, a favorite of Louis XIV. This exceptional built heritage and the associative vitality of the village make it an endearing commune. The Lauzun lake, fishing, and surrounding hiking trails complete the local tourist offer.
