The May 1st Car Boot Sale in Val d'Anast

Every May 1st, the commune of Val d'Anast hosts its annual car boot sale. Private sellers set up in the village center to offer a wide range of second-hand items: clothing, toys, trinkets, crockery, books, small furniture, garden tools, and flea market items. The event attracts bargain hunters from central and southern Ille-et-Vilaine, taking advantage of the public holiday for a day of outdoor treasure hunting.

Val d'Anast, a New Commune Between Heathland and Hedgerows

Val d'Anast is a new commune of approximately 5,500 inhabitants, created in 2019 from the merger of Maure-de-Bretagne, Campel, and Bruc-sur-Aff. Located 45 km southwest of Rennes, the commune covers a vast area of hedgerows and heathland, within the community of communes of Vallons de Haute-Bretagne. The main village, Maure-de-Bretagne, is a former cantonal capital that retains interesting heritage: wooden market halls, Saint-Pierre church, and old village houses. The commune is crossed by the Aff river, a tributary of the Oust, and bordered by the Maure heathland, a remarkable natural space.
